PADI Divemaster Course

Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program.  Here at Go Pro Costa Rica you will be working closely with a PADI Instructor and expanding your dive knowledge and working on your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

Here at Go Pro we have two different options for your Divemaster program. These are the standard Divemaster course and a specialized ECO Divemaster course with a greater focus on marine conservation. Partnered with the non-profit Marine Conservation Costa Rica, you have the chance to work alongside and assist on their exciting projects.

During the PADI Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems.  Our Divemaster course here in Costa Rica is very comprehensive and includes many additional workshops and skills to ensure that you become the best dive professional that you can.

If you want to spend additional time working on your Divemaster training then we also offer an internship program.  This is where you spend an additional couple of weeks, up to an extra month on your training. The time is dependent on the experience  and number of dives that you already have, coming into the program.

What does the PADI Divemaster course involve?

The Divemaster course is split into 4 parts. The first is your academics, which can be completed online before you arrive. Everything would then be reviewed and exams are completed.  At any point if extra tuition or coaching is needed for your exams it is available.

The second part is your stamina test, equipment exchange, and mapping project, which are completed at different points throughout your dive training.

The last two parts are your confined sessions and ocean dives. You will be involved in teaching workshops for Discover Scuba Diving, scuba reviews, skin diving courses and snorkel tours too.

You will shadow both instructors and Divemasters, learning how to prepare dive trips, lead dives, and brief clients.

There are many different workshops and skills that are covered during the Divemaster course including;

  • Deep Diver Workshop
  • Search and Recovery scenarios
  • Dive skill demonstration
  • Dive Site Set up
  • PADI ReActivate program standards and organization
  • Discover Local diving workshop

All of these are covered in depth and help broaden your experience as a dive professional.
