What is the PADI Divemaster Course?
Before we dive into prerequisites, let’s quickly cover what the PADI Divemaster course is. It’s the first level of professional training in the PADI system, giving you the skills to supervise scuba diving activities, assist instructors, and lead certified divers on underwater adventures.
It’s also the foundation for a career in scuba diving, and an essential stepping stone if you’re planning to become a scuba instructor one day.
No Experience? No Problem
While the Divemaster course itself does have some prerequisites — such as being a certified Rescue Diver, having completed Emergency First Response (EFR) training within the last 24 months, and logging at least 40 dives to begin and 60 to complete — you do not need to have any prior experience to start your journey.

How Long Does It Take to Go from Beginner to Divemaster?
The length of your program depends on your current level, but here’s a general idea:
