If I had to describe the PADI IDC course here at Ocean’s Unlimited with one word, it would be challenging. As the course itself is designed to prepare you for the role of a PADI Instructor, it tests your abilities in the water and the classroom. At first, when the realization of becoming an instructor hit me I instantly became nervous. I asked myself, was I ready for this? Knowingly, the Course Director kept reassuring us that we would all do just fine. We were trained and ready to become instructors. Her confidence in our abilities is what kept me calm throughout the IDC and especially the I.E. She recognized each of our strengths and weaknesses and pushed us to do our best. She was organized, prudent and informative. Beyond all she made all of us feel at home and comfortable at Ocean’s Unlimited.
Working along with the Course Director was the shop’s ex-military Master Instructor. Not only can he answer any music trivia question you throw his way, he is a wealth of information when it comes to scuba diving. He is fantastic at being time-efficient and thorough. Some might say he is never smiling but if you get to know him you can see by the glow in his eyes that he always smiling. As long as you do you job and follow directions he is a very easy to get along with.
Overall my experience during the IDC was amazing. I am so happy that I chose to come to Ocean’s Unlimited. I love it so much I am deciding to stick around a little longer. Manual Antonio is a beautiful place and the people at Ocean’s Unlimited are some of the friendliest, happiest people I have ever met. If you choose to do your IDC here I can guarantee you, you will not regret it.
