So the busy week continued, after the CPR, then exploring Uvita diving and today we headed to the pool for some pre-IDC skill circuit practice and Divemaster course skin diver and scuba review practice. As part of the PADI Divemaster program our budding candidates have to be able to conduct a scuba review program and run a skin diver course. We haven’t had many refresher courses lately so we ran a simulation instead with some of our other candidates and IDC students. Set a couple of skills, some problems and problematic students and away we went. Nothing too serious that a Divemaster candidate can’t fix, forgotten snorkels, 5 point descents and some BCD removal problems ; ). The skin diver program was our second half, specifically focusing on the head first skin dive, 50ft/15m swim underwater and then snorkel clearing. These are essential skills in the open water diver program as well, where a divemaster can assist so important that they know how to teach it. Great demos from our trainee Shane and he showed good control of the class. Finished in less than a week, he’ll then be out teaching the real thing…good luck and happy bubbling!!
