It has been a busy week at Go Pro Costa Rica. First call at the end of last week we decided to give back to the community and offered a FREE CPR demo on the beach. With updated guidelines at the beginning of the year, we felt it was important to share this important skills with those who wanted to learn. Manuel Antonio is one of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica, and with Rip currents and strong swells it is not stranger to swimmers and beach goers getting into trouble. Our first responders here are generally the local surf community so it was these guys that we did our demos and skill practice. Whilst nearly all of them have previous CPR training, nothing beats a refresh. Early morning we started over coffee and the bribery of Brownies (thank you Kaitlin : ) ) Working in teams we worked on CPR, primary assessment and choking to start with and then more. A serious subject yet a fun learning session and certainly a challenge as well for our EFR instructor candidates who were practicing for their class. I think this will become a regular event for us here as you never know when you will need to use it.
