How many candidates are accepted into a course?

At Oceans Unlimited we specialize in quality, personalized attention to all of our candidates, there will be no more than 8 candidates per course.

Will I have free time to enjoy Costa Rica?

We have a full schedule for the days of your courses. You will see the ocean, of course, and we try to get you outside the classroom some, but we recommend you take a couple of extra days before or after the IDC to experience other activities here, such as white water rafting, zip line canopy tours or hiking in the Manuel Antonio National Park. The Oceans Unlimited staff can help you to make arrangements for adventure tours at a discounted rate!

What are the living expenses in the area?

Accomodation: There is a wide variety of hotels, many with in walking distance or within 15 minutes by local transport. 
We can arrange accomodation from $10 for a dorm bed, $14 for a home stay or $25 for a private room in a backpacker style hostel upto luxury accomadation and everywhere inbetween. Hotel Info
Food: There are many local supermarkets, bakeries and a typical lunch in a local restarant is less than $5. Restaurant Info

Do I need to bring all my own dive equipment?  
Using your own equipment during a professional level course is always recommended, though we do have good quality rental equipment that is availble for you throughout your course. Available equipment includes mask, snorkel, full foot fins, BCD, 3 mm full wetsuit, Regulator with alternate air source and depth/pressure gauges, weight belt and weights.

What equipment must I have during my course?

You must have a timing device, compass, knife/diver's tool, slate, and 2 surface signalling devices - one audible (whistle, air horn etc) and one visual (safety sausage or signal mirror etc). All are for sale in the Oceans Unlimited Store. Remember to check the required educational materials also.

After I finish my course can I stay and get some experience?

Absolutely! Oceans Unlimited invites decidated DM or Instructors to gain invaluable PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Center experience for 2 weeks after you finish you course with our Dive Leadership program.
