Here at Go Pro Costa Rica, we schedule our PADI IDC program over a period of 11 days, from 8am to 5pm, in order to make the course much more relaxed and to give us more time to focus on individual counseling and development. Our facility is open from 7am each morning where our professional staff will always be available for any additional counselling if needed.

The PADI Instructor Development Course or PADI IDC is made up of 2 components, the AI (assistant Instructor) and the OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor).
The Assistant Instructor portion is the 1st component of the PADI Instructor Development Course and essentially teaches you “how to teach” as well as building upon your Divemaster training . The Assistant Instructor course is a 4 day program that involves academic teaching as well as sessions in confined & open water training. The Assistant Instructor course can be conducted as part of the PADI IDC or as a stand-alone program.
The 2nd portion of the IDC is the OWSI (Open Water Scuba Instructor) program. and takes 6 days . The OWSI builds on the candidate’s abilities to prepare academic, confined water and open water teaching presentations, that were already taught during the Assistant Instructor portion. You will also learn about business principles, risk management and many other important aspects of becoming a PADI Dive instructor. In addition, at Go Pro Costa Rica we look at helping you in your future career opportunities , by assisting you with resume preparation and offer additional workshops for help with your many techniques in the “real world” of a scuba professional, including retail and counseling techniques
.
For candidates who are already certified as PADI Divemaster prior to arriving in Costa Rica for your IDC there have been changes to the curriculum, that from January 2010, now allow you to complete some of your IDC online. You have the option of;
1) Studying and pre-assessing your dive theory online.
2) Studying 9 of the course presentations online which can be used to reduce the time of the course and start 3 days later than our ‘Live delivery’ IDC. The course will then end one week later. This takes just 12 days for the complete Instructor course, EFR Instructor and 2 day PADI Exams, and even less if you arrive in Costa Rica already certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor.
There is an additional charge for this each of these options, that are available through us and paid directly to PADI.
At the end of your Instructor Development Course you’ll attend a 2 day Instructor Examination which will then qualify you to teach as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, and if you really want to get a head start to your dive career then read about our
